Rayla Sunshine was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina (U.S.A.). She was raised with the rhythm of her Caribbean father and the harmonic richness of her German mother’s love of classical music. Her ambitions to become a singer were apparent early on, regularly singing in the local church and school choir, before she was 16 years old she had already started studio recording and live stage performances.
Following a move to Miami, where she performed in the Ricky Martin video ‘She Bangs’, she eventually settled in Germany. Over the next few years she embarking on extensive tours through Europe and being involved in a number variety of high-profile musical projects, including backing-vocals for Rihanna, Jay-Z and Bono on their charity song ‘Stranded’ whilst she was in the UK, performing at the Eurovision song Contest with Cascada in Malmö, as well as touring with Culcha Candela in 2015.
Currently she is on tour with German band Frida Gold.
Today music still remains a huge part of her life, but Rayla has also branched out and is regularly providing compering and presenting at international live corporate events.
Her popularity and success in this role has led to radio presenting work and she is in the process of establishing her own podcast.
